A Study on the Tourism Merchandising of Folk Festivals


Abstract
Tourists have much interest in the cultural heritage the countries to which they travel. Every local government makes an effort to facilitate the tourism merchandising of folk festivals for the growth of the community. The purpose of this study is to establish a plan of the tourism merchandising of folk festivals, and the method of this study is based on the literature. Through the theoretical, analytic study on-folk festivals, a plan for the tourism merchandising is as follows. First, it requires an institutional, administrative support of a government; the establishment of a professional organization, holding events to revitalize the local economy, a functional reinforcement of the local cultural centers and. an inducement of the local residents voluntary participation. Second, it contains the method of publicity and the marketing strategies. It also comprises an announcement in advance of the schedule of folk festivals, a connection between neighboring tourist resorts and harmony of the programs, the practical. use of mass media for the publicity. Third, it needs a continuous study on a folk festival and its preservation. To achieve this arm, it is necessary to establish a cooperation system composed of experts in the central government, the local government, the academic quarters and the tourism industry. It also requires the system of evaluating the existing folk festivals.
